Description Of The Service

Residential construction doesn’t start with finishes, it starts with structure. It begins with the elements that define strength, stability, and long-term performance. The foundation supports daily life and distributes loads safely into the ground, ensuring the building remains stable under varying conditions. The concrete frame carries every floor above, maintaining alignment, balance, and structural integrity across the entire structure. Load-bearing walls provide resistance against movement, environmental stress, and long-term wear. These components are rarely visible once the home is complete, yet they determine how well it stands, how it ages, and how it performs under everyday use, weather exposure, and time.

At The Wilman Group, we deliver civil and structural construction focused on residential developments, from independent homes to multi-unit housing projects and larger residential communities. Our team manages the full structural scope, starting from soil investigation and ground assessment through to foundation construction, structural framing, and supporting site infrastructure. Every phase is approached with detailed planning, technical coordination, and strict quality control to ensure the structure meets both design intent and real-world conditions.

We work strictly in accordance with engineer-approved structural drawings and specifications. Detailed records are maintained for every concrete pour, reinforcement inspection, and quality check, ensuring complete traceability and accountability throughout the build. Continuous coordination with structural engineers allows us to respond to site conditions, validate construction accuracy, and maintain consistency at every stage.

In residential construction, there is no margin for compromise, as the outcome directly impacts how people live every day. Our approach prioritizes durability, precision, and disciplined execution, delivering structures that are safe, reliable, and built to perform efficiently and consistently over the long term.

✔ RCC Structural Framework: Columns, beams, slabs, staircases, and roof structures — executed in line with structural drawings, with full pour records and cube testing maintained throughout.
✔ Steel Components & Supports: Steel elements used in residential builds including beams, connections, and structural supports, coordinated with fabricators for accuracy and execution.
✔ Residential Foundation Solutions: Isolated footings, strip, raft, and pile foundations — selected based on soil conditions and ground reports, and built to approved bearing capacities.
✔ Basement & Retention Systems: Basement structures and retaining walls designed to handle soil pressure and ensure long-term stability of the residence.
✔ Underground Services & Drainage: Foul water lines, rainwater systems, inspection chambers, and service conduits — installed as per approved residential layouts and regulations.
✔ Site Preparation & Ground Engineering: Excavation, leveling, backfilling, and compaction — creating a stable base for construction with proper testing at each stage.
✔ Quality Assurance & Structural Records: Detailed documentation including pour logs, reinforcement inspections, and compliance reports — ensuring smooth approvals and project handover.
1. Pre Construction & Planning Stage Engagement
We engage with developers and clients as early as the planning stage wherever possible, providing buildability advice, preliminary programmes, and early cost input that can shape the design before it is finalised. This stage is where the greatest value can be added in residential construction. Decisions such as foundation type, structural system, and material selection are far more efficient to adjust on paper than after work has begun on site. Early involvement allows us to identify risks, optimise construction methods, and ensure the design is both practical and cost-effective to deliver.

2. Groundworks Foundations & Below Ground Drainage
Site clearance, topsoil stripping, setting out, foundation construction, and below-ground drainage are all managed by our in-house groundworks teams. We retain full control of this critical phase rather than subcontracting it, ensuring consistency, quality, and accountability. Foundation systems are confirmed against site investigation reports, and any unexpected ground conditions are reviewed with the structural engineer before progressing. This approach ensures that the substructure is built correctly from the outset, providing a stable base for all subsequent works.

3. Superstructure Frame & External Envelope
We deliver a range of superstructure systems including traditional masonry, timber frame, and structural steel construction. This stage defines the building’s geometry, including wall alignment, openings, and floor and roof levels. Accuracy is essential, as all following trades depend on this framework. We use precise setting-out equipment and continuous dimensional checks to ensure the structure matches design specifications exactly, maintaining consistency and quality throughout the build.

4. Internal First Fix Structure Services & Insulation
Once the structure is watertight, internal first fix works begin. This includes structural partitions, insulation installation, plumbing and heating systems, electrical containment and wiring, and underfloor heating where required. Trade sequencing is carefully managed to avoid conflicts and ensure that all installations are properly inspected before being enclosed, maintaining quality and compliance.

5. Internal Second Fix Finishes & Fit Out
This stage includes plastering, flooring, joinery, kitchens, bathrooms, sanitaryware, doors, and decorative finishes. These are the elements visible at handover, so quality control is a key focus. We protect completed finishes and maintain clean working conditions to ensure a high standard of presentation and durability.

6. Snagging Customer Inspection & Handover
Each unit undergoes a detailed pre-handover inspection by our site team. Snagging items are identified and resolved before customer or client inspections take place. This structured approach reduces post-handover defects and ensures a smoother transition for occupants, delivering homes that meet both technical standards and customer expectations.
