Before any groundworks begin, we carry out a comprehensive utility search and detailed desktop study to identify all existing below-ground services within the construction area. This includes reviewing statutory records, service drawings, and historical data to map potential risks. Where required, we verify utility positions through trial holes, ground-penetrating radar scans, and on-site investigations. We also liaise with statutory undertakers to agree on service diversions, protection zones, and new connection points. Early identification and coordination help prevent costly disruptions, delays, and safety hazards during construction, ensuring that all works proceed with confidence and accuracy.
2. Earthworks Formation & Platform Preparation
We undertake bulk earthworks including cut and fill operations, topsoil stripping and stockpiling, and the import of engineered fill materials where required. Ground is prepared and compacted to specified CBR values to ensure stability and load-bearing capacity. Platform formation is carried out to the correct levels and falls, forming the base for drainage systems, road construction, and building slabs. We verify compaction through dynamic plate load testing and maintain detailed records throughout the process, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications and long-term ground performance.
3. Below Ground Drainage Installation
Surface water and foul drainage systems are installed in line with the approved drainage strategy, typically developed by a drainage engineer as part of planning compliance. All pipework is laid to the correct gradients, sizes, and invert levels, with inspection chambers positioned as per design requirements. Continuous checks are carried out during installation to ensure accuracy and performance. Upon completion, CCTV surveys are conducted to confirm that systems are free-flowing, correctly aligned, and free from defects or blockages.
4. Below Ground Service Installation
We install all essential below-ground services including water mains, gas pipelines, high and low voltage electrical ducting, and telecommunications infrastructure. These are laid within coordinated utility corridors in accordance with statutory authority standards and adoption requirements. We manage coordination with utility providers from design approval through to final connection and commissioning, ensuring all timelines are aligned with the overall construction programme.
5. Road Construction & Pavement Build Up
Road construction is carried out in a structured sequence, including sub-base preparation, roadbase installation, base and binder courses, and final surface finishes. All works are completed to highway authority specifications for adoptable roads. Kerbs, drainage gullies, signage, and lighting infrastructure are installed and commissioned as part of the package. We maintain full quality records, including compaction data and material certifications, to support approvals and adoption processes.
6. Public Realm Footpaths & External Landscaping
We deliver all external works including footpaths, cycleways, landscaped areas, boundary treatments, and street furniture installation. Soft landscaping, seeding, and finishing works are completed to enhance usability and visual appeal. Public realm areas are often the most visible part of the project, and we ensure they are delivered to a high standard, providing a durable, functional, and well-finished environment for end users and the wider community.
